the boozy lemon

The Boozy Lemon is a conceptual small business that sells spiked lemonade in beach towns. The brand uses bold and bright colors to create a summery feel so customers have a vacation-like experience when interacting with the brand. Drinks come in decorated cups that make the brand stand out and recognizable when in someone’s hand.

MOOD BOARD

I began by gathering inspiration from Pinterest for what the overall vibe will feel like for this project. I knew I was going to go with a lemonade business, but wasn’t sure which direction to take it yet, so I got my ideas rolling from finding patterns, images, colors, and products that I wanted to include.

concept one

My first concept is The Happy Lemon. This would be a fresh, light, and organic lemonade stand that targets an audience who is health & ingredient conscious. The featured menu items would be a simple lemonade (lemon+water+honey), a lemon tea (hot or iced), lemon health shots, lemon sorbet (lemon+water +honey), and some small snacks. I wanted The Happy Lemon to feel modern and sleek with some engaging details that can be used as a repeated symbol. The “o” in lemon was the perfect opportunity to become an icon that can be used on cups, napkins, and any merchandise.

concept two

My second concept is The Lemon House. The Lemon House is more upscale, and would be a brick & mortar store that you can order at a counter and sit down at a table. The Lemon House would have a variety of lemonades and flavors, also offering several pastries such as lemon bars, donuts, cakes, etc. I wanted this to feel unique, luxurious, and feminine.

concept three

My final concept, also the chosen one, is The Boozy Lemon. Being from Massachusetts, I took inspiration from beachy towns along Cape Cod that have a bold and bright energy to them. I combined this idea with Caddy’s Treasure Island, a restaurant and bar located right on the beach here in Treasure Island, Florida. The Boozy Lemon is essentially a walk-up bar/lemonade stand that would be located on beaches (that allow alcohol) where customers can walk right up and grab a drink, and head back to their beach chairs and enjoy. Customers can come right up barefoot and sandy, making this a laid-back bar that’s meant to add something sweet to your beach day. The Boozy Lemon includes snacks like soft pretzels, chips, fries, and popcorn, easy things to snack on. I really loved all three concepts I could have taken this project in, but ultimately I related the most to The Boozy Lemon and saw this as something I would’ve loved to see on my beaches growing up or here in my new home in Florida.
